Hope and Healing: HABEMA’s Free Health Treatment Brings Smiles to Gome Residents

PUNCAK - In a heartfelt demonstration of commitment and care, the Task Forces of the Raider Infantry Battalion 323/Buaya Putih Kostrad, under the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, conducted a life-changing initiative titled "Free Health Treatment" on Sunday, January 19, 2025. This effort directly addressed the healthcare needs of a resident in Gome Village, Gome District, Puncak Regency, Papua Tengah Province.

The program was spearheaded by First Lieutenant Galang and his team from the Gome Post. Responding to an urgent incident, the team treated Mr. Roy Waker, a local resident who sustained a deep laceration on his fingers caused by broken glass at home. The Medical Team, equipped with the necessary expertise and supplies, quickly provided first aid and thorough medical care. This act of service underscored the Task Forces’ unwavering dedication to the welfare of the local community.

The treatment session was more than just medical care—it was an opportunity to foster trust and strengthen bonds with the local community. During the treatment, the Medical Team engaged in meaningful conversations with Mr. Roy and his family, learning about their daily challenges and the overall security conditions in the area.

After providing free medication to aid his recovery, Mr. Roy expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, “Thank you, Commander 323. I feel healthier now. God bless.” His words of appreciation symbolized the positive impact the initiative had on both individuals and the broader community.

Upon receiving the report, Major General Lucky Avianto, the HABEMA Commanding General, praised the 323 Task Forces for their exemplary work. He remarked, “The 323 Task Forces’ initiative is a testament to TNI’s commitment to supporting local communities by addressing basic healthcare needs. Such efforts not only improve lives but also contribute to the accelerated development of the Papua region.”

This recognition reflects the importance of community-focused initiatives in fostering unity, resilience, and trust between the Indonesian Armed Forces and the people they serve.

Through efforts like this, HABEMA continues to play a pivotal role in transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and solidarity. The “Free Health Treatment” initiative is a shining example of how small acts of care can lead to lasting change, creating ripples of hope across the region.
